Sweet Sarsaparillalla Soda – Root Beer Without all the Sugar
Ingredients
Sweet Sarsaparilla herbal tea from TeaSource
Sparkling water*
*For a better taste, use sparkling water with a low-mineral content. Or, get more minerals in your diet and try a high-mineral content sparkling water, like San Pellegrino or Gerolsteiner.
Kitchen Supplies
Tea filter bags* or stainless steel tea ball
Tea kettle or pot
Coffee mug and plate
I love T-Sac tea filter bags! You can find them at your local grocer or on Amazon.
Method
In a tea kettle or pot, bring 1 cup of water to a boil
Grab a mug and set aside
Add 1 Tbsp of Sweet Sarsaparilla herbal tea to a tea filter of your choice
Place tea (in the filter) into the mug
Once water is boiling, remove heat and pour just enough to cover the tea
Grab a plate and place it on top of the mug (this steeps the tea)
Steep the tea for 10-15 minutes
Place mug (with plate still on top) in the fridge for at least one hour
After the tea has cooled, pour it into a clear glass (so you can see the deliciousness!)
Pour sparkling water into the glass until it’s full
Smile. 🙂 And, enjoy!
P.S. If you want to make a “melted root beer float,” add a splash of creamer (almond, coconut, cow, or goat milk or creamer will do the trick). Don’t forget the straw!
