As I approach that big 3-0, I can’t help but think about who I was in my twenties and all of the negative thoughts I once I had about myself…That being said I have a number of things to say to my 20 something-year-old self now that I am quickly approaching 30…in fact, I actually have a lot to say to all of you twenty-something-year-olds and I hope you take all of this to heart…
No You Are Not FAT!
Looking back on photos it blows my mind that I really thought I was fat…what the hell was I thinking???
You Are Way Too Good for The Plethora of Losers You Choose to Date…
Oh man…the bad boys, the musicians, the people in general that treat you like garbage and you keep going back for…stop!!! Raise those standards, you deserve waaaaayyy better!
Eat Those Fries, That Ice Cream, or Whatever You Are Craving
Again, no you are not fat, and your metabolism is through the roof, just eat and enjoy it! Trust me…you will wish you would have some day.
You Are Your Harshest Critic
You really are…stop being so hard on yourself dammit, you are pretty amazing.
Life is Literally Just Like the “Friends” Song (no I am not kidding)
At almost 30 years of age, I now hear the “Friends” song and have one of those “OMG” moments, yup that is my life…my job is a joke and I am broke…Sorry twenty-somethings, the truth hurts.
Everyone is Kind of Lost
Feeling bad you have no clue what you want to do with your life? Um, yeah…I still go through that dilemma on a pretty regular basis and…I am officially a grown up, yikes! Yeah, don’t feel bad, that really doesn’t ever go away. Get used to it. You do things to provide food and shelter, but let’s be real…you probably do not have a career doing exactly what you love and hey that is totally okay!
Try Not to Regret Dumb Mistakes
We all make dumb mistakes in life, but the saying is really true about how every experience teaches us something and make us who we are. Be prepared, you will make dumb mistakes and the important lesson is to learn something from them and don’t make them again.
Again, let’s be real…there are so many other things I would tell my twenty-year-old self, but enough is enough for now!
